October is my favorite and busiest time of the year. I celebrate two of my children's birthdays and my anniversary, too! Phew! The computer lab is no different! We are super busy wrapping up projects and beginning new ones. Here's a snippet of what we'll be working on in the next few weeks:
Kindergarten - Students have had an introduction to keyboarding via Maura the Key Seeker Monkey and will be moving into using the graphics program KidPix to create pictures that depict both night and day. First Grade - Students did a marvelous job with their class digital books! They'll be posted soon on blogs!. Our next project will involve the graphing program, The Graph Club. Students will collect and analyze data using this first grade friendly program. Second Grade - We are wrapping up and finalizing our Monster Projects and sending them to an elementary school in Texas. Our next focus has us mastering mind mapping software to organize information. More on our topic/s soon! Third Grade - Third graders are experts at Kidspiration, webbing software, and their typing/keyboarding skills are coming along. I've gotten several compliments from third grade teachers and Mrs. Bates. Way to go, Third Grade! Speaking of Mrs. Bates, she and I will be collaborating this quarter to help students learn Internet search basics. I'll be taking what we learn and using it with Word 2013, PowerPoint, and Publisher. Fourth Grade - Student are still out at sea! Will they ever get home? Our Stowaway project has been a big hit! We are learning more and more about Microsoft Word, latitude and longitude, utilizing real-time data, and researching about our Ports of Call. Students will be creating itineraries and sharing about their destination through Publisher. We'll wrap up our project with a reflection created in PowerPoint. Fifth Grade - We'll be tackling the Office Suite this quarter tying in the social studies curriculum to help support the classroom, and as always, students will work on keyboarding! Thanks for your support!
