We'll be data collectors in our last quarter of Kindergarten. Students will learn how to collect data and display it with the computer program, The Graph Club. Don't be surprised if our data collecting includes what is edible! Who doesn't love a graph where you get to eat the subject!
After creating our own books in PowerPoint and producing a document to display what we learned about George Washington Carver, first graders will continue to sharpen their skills in Microsoft Office.
Second grade wrapped up their study of graphs and will be learning about goods and services. What better way to incorporate Word/Publisher or online creating tools, than to produce advertisements. We'll create some amazing marketing tools for a local, small restaurant in need of a digital presence!
Third grade has worked for most of the year learning the art of research. Where can you go to find trusted information? How do you know you can trust what you're reading? We'll continue this study learning about the threats to Georgia's Mountain and Piedmont regions. With their new-found understanding, they'll create a product to educate others. This can take the form of an info graphic, Word document, or PowerPoint. I can't wait to see what they come up with!
After sharing their AMAZING Revolutionary War PowerPoints, we tested one another's new knowledge with the web application KaHoot! It's a great way to get every child involved in their learning and a have a digital "camp fire" moment. Motivating! We'll move to crafting a marketing plan for the Annual Tritt Art Show. We'll be creating print and digital ads. Real world marketing in fourth grade!
We're still in the throes of cells! A hard concept to learn and an even harder concept to teach, but that is what our fifth graders were tasked with in their cell PowerPoint project. We'll wrap up the year with a take on NPR's Storycorps to capture those lasting memories of Tritt and ensuring our fifth graders feel confident in their technology use as they transition to Hightower Trail Middle School.
Mrs. Pascual is the technology lab teacher at Tritt for the 2018-2019 school year.
