We are already into week four! Time flies when you're busy and having fun! Students have absorbed so much in so little time. I'm super proud of all that our Tritt Tigers have learned! Here's a glimpse into what they've experienced in the computer lab..... First Grade - They are pros at logging into the network, worked on their mouse skills, and have started keyboarding with Keyseekers, a program whose goal is to familiarize students with which hand clicks on the keys. We'll soon be expanding our creative juices, creating our own art in KidPix drawing inspiration from the book The Dot by Peter K. Reynolds. We're all excited to see where a line or mark will take us! Second Grade - It's hard to believe that this tech savvy crew were just first graders a few months back. They learned how to login, have worked on their keyboarding skills, and took their first SRI test. We just started our multi-week "Monster" project which involves grammar, drawing, writing descriptive paragraphs and collaboration. They are all excited to design their very own monster and see if another child can recreate it! Third Grade - Third graders made swift work of SRI testing and logging into the network. They had their formal introduction to typing and have now embarked on their three year journey in the typing program, Type to Learn. We also managed to fit in a little intro. to Word 2013. Student learned about text alignment, font changes, and saving. I am so proud of all they accomplished. We will continue our work with Word 2013 and include some graphic organizing with Kidspiration/Inspiration. Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade - Students have already improved a great deal in their typing skills. We will work each class with Type to Learn, learning by touch with the use of a speedskin. Be on the look out for more information about how you can download Type to Learn at home. Students also received their first lessons in Microsoft Word 2013. They now know the basics of working with text, tables, and pictures. Ask them about double-clicking vs. triple-clicking. They love to share their own techy tips too! So proud of our students!
